I'm vintage.

No, it's not my birthday. That doesn't come around 'til next month. But I was just unloading the dishwasher and as I was putting away these tongs, I realized that I received them at my bridal shower almost forty years ago.

I started thinking about other things still in our possession four decades later, as well as all the things we've retained from our childhoods or that have been passed along to us by our parents and grandparents.  At first I felt amazed by their longevity, but then I realized that too many of the things we own could be classified as vintage. Now I don't know whether to be depressed or to open a vintage shop on Etsy.

Yeah, maybe I'll keep the tongs. Someone else just discovered their usefulness.

  1. I used to play with some tongs at my grandmother's house. I still remember going around and picking up things with them. Keep the tongs.
