Treasury Tuesday

It's Tuesday and that means it's time for another terrific treasury.  I just love that Annakrycz chose to include so much green in her Kaleidoscope of Autumn treasury, because that's what autumn looks like here in North Texas.

On a showery day!

Saturday we prepared for Baby Kaylee's arrival with a shower hosted by my niece Sarah, my sisters-in-law Claudia and Karen and myself.  It's still about ten weeks before Kaylee is due to arrive, but we wanted to have at least one party that Sarah could attend, since she only had a few days that she could get here from Portland.  Jen and Sarah are just a few months apart in age and both only children and the only girls in the family, so they grew up more like sisters than cousins.  Sarah is planning to be Auntie Sarah to Kaylee!

Of course, we've had beautiful days all around the planned date, but the day of the shower was not only showery, but downright stormy, so we were worried about some of the guests, especially those driving over from the Dallas area.  Thankfully they all made it here safely and the weather cleared by the time they needed to make the return trip.

Treasury Tuesday

Two tantalizing treasuries to tempt you this Tuesday.  The first by ThisYearsGirl is sure to put you in a subtly spooky mood for Halloween.

The second is very special, since it is the first treasury to feature an item from my shop.  Thanks so much to PaulaArt for creating a treasury featuring all the Etsy sellers who "hearted" her shop on October 13th!

Moon on Monday

Chili Saturday

Spent most of Saturday working the WPI Firefighter's Fund Chili Cook-Off, having been recruited by Jennifer to help out in the tent where they were selling event T-shirts and chili-tasting cups.  She's the volunteer coordinator for the event.  I wish I'd had time to taste more of the chili, but perhaps it was better that I only made it through about ten samples.  I was hot enough by the end of the day without any added spice!

Here are a few pictures I took while I was there.

Like two peas in a pod

It always amazes me how often I find Twinkie and Ruby (and sometimes Gracie, too), sleeping in exactly the same position.  When I first spotted them on the bed this afternoon, they both had their noses tucked into their tails.  By the time I headed to the family room and got back with the camera, they both looked up at me, but then settled back into almost the same position.  This one took a lot of trial and error to get a good shot with the bright sunlight shining through the curtain behind them.  This one was shot with the "snow" setting on my camera.

Treasury Tuesday

Today's Treasury was created by OneClayBead (be SURE to visit her shop...gorgeous pottery!).  She does lovely treasuries.  I picked this one for the obvious seasonal theme and because I LOVE candy corn, having already consumed two bags of it!

Many of the items featured have already sold, but that's the purpose of a treasury, after all.  Clicking on one of those sold listings will still send you to a shop full of great finds, I'm sure.

Old What's-Her-Name

Since I found out I'm going to be a grandmother, there has been an ongoing discussion of what I would like my grandmother name to be.  So many possibilities!

Grandma?  Too traditional for me...and it's what all the grandchildren call my mother-in-law.  Mimi?  No, that's my mom, although it seems to be a popular choice among many of my friends who have reached grandmotherhood.  Grandmommy was what we called my maternal grandmother.  My paternal grandmother was Ma-maw.  All the variations of Nana, Nanna, Nona just don't seem like me (to me, anyway).  I'm sure there are many other options that I haven't considered at all.

My preferred name was suggested by my sister-in-law Claudia and my friend Beth, both of them knowing that I've used it as a nickname online for years.  It's a nickname that was bestowed upon me by my friend Susan back in our high school days...a combination of part of my first name and my middle initial.  I'm so used to being "Jancey" now that it seems the most natural thing for my grandchild to call me, too.

Jennifer is not so sure about it.  She asked me yesterday if I was certain that's what I wanted to be called, also telling me that her mother-in-law thinks it's cute (and it's not too close to what she's considering).  When I said that I was 98 percent sure about it, she suggested that I ask my blog readers their opinion.  So, dear readers, what do you think?  And what do your grandchildren call you?  Is it a name you picked, or was it chosen for you?  Or if you're not yet a grandmother or grandfather, what would you want your future grandchildren to call you?

p.s.  Both grandfathers-to-be want to be called "Granddad".  We need to work on them.

p.p.s. Only 87 days until the due date!!!

I'm looking through you.

Silly me, I just reread every post I've ever made here.  It seemed a good idea at the time.  And there are only 45 of them so far.  It still took a while....and I had already spent a good amount of time reading current posts on several other blogs that I follow.

What did I discover?  Mostly that my blog is full of gaps.  Huge gaps between posts sometimes.  Promises made to say something later and then the gap left by the unfulfilled promise.  Sort of reminds me of one of my mom's favorite terms....gaposis....which is when there are embarrassing and unsightly gaps between the buttons of your shirt.

Then I thought about my last post and realized that the next post is scheduled and will have the same title.   I think there needs to be more of a gap between posts with the same title, so I here I am saying nothing pertinent at all, just filling the gap for once.  All in an effort to help stomp out blog gaposis.

Of course, even a blog about gaps must have a picture.  No picture gaps here, thank you very much.

Do you see the bird?  There.  Through the gap.
