Don't leave comfy things on the kitchen counter....

especially if you have a cat.

Treasury Tuesday

Time to start getting into the Christmas spirit, so please pass the eggnog!

This intoxicating treasury was created by MullishMuse, who very nicely included my Eccentric Circles necklace.  Be sure to visit her shop to find....celebrity finger puppets!  And be sure to note that they can be converted into holiday ornaments, just in case your tree needs a tiny Justin Bieber, or perhaps you're more the Hunter S. Thompson type.

As always, click the treasury image to be taken directly to its page on Etsy, since I know you want a better look at my necklace!

Silver bells, silver bells, it's almost Christmas time in the city!

And that means I'm having a 20% off sale in my Etsy shop!  Just type the code SILVERBELLS12 in the new coupon code box when you check out.  I've got a bunch of new items to add, too, so check back often during the sale period....oh yeah, that's today, November 29th, through Wednesday, December 15th.

Treasury Tuesday

I loved the look and the title of this treasury created by Imali.  In fact, it reminds me of her Etsy shop, filled with beautifully photographed fabric creations including home decor items and fashion accessories.

And dear Hagarae featured another of my items in the following treasury last week...my Button Up Bracelet in Lime!

Have a very happy and tasty Thanksgiving!

Will success spoil jgrumbling?

Here I am, back to report that the Spectacular Fall Bazaar was a success!  I took an inventory of forty-six items and sold nine, which I think wasn't too bad for a rather small show and my first show experience.  I just got an email from the organizers saying that they also considered their first bazaar a success, with twenty-five vendors and approximately 150 visitors in six hours.  I hope they'll invite me back if they do it again next year!

I really want to thank my dear friend Kathy for coming to help me at my table, as well as all the friends and family who came and not only shopped at my table but at those of the other vendors as well.  I bought things from seven of the other vendors, myself.

Here are a few pictures from the show...

My table, with my awesome custom banner from JumpUpAndDown.  I need to find a deeper-toned tablecloth and hang the banner so that the M and B don't overlap next time.

That's Kathy sitting at the table. She was wearing jewelry that I'd made for her, even changing earrings and bracelet midway through the day!  She did a great job chatting up the customers, as I knew she would.

I used a black iron fruit basket filled with (fake) pears to hang some of the necklaces and a black iron plate rack (need to find some pear-themed plates with the right diameter!) to add more height and display a few items. As you can probably tell, pears are us me.  And look at the great lighting at Kaye's table next to mine (that's Kaye in the blue shirt).  I really think I got lucky in the placement of my assigned table, since it was on the far wall directly across from the entrance, with Kaye's lights drawing the eye of so many visitors that came straight across the fellowship hall to start their browsing, with my table being the first in line and Kaye's second.  Kaye makes lovely stained glass crosses with vintage bottles as their bases (Witt's End Stained Glass Crosses, email gkwitt@swbell.net), so they were shown off beautifully, and both my jewelry and the vintage jewelry of my friends Janey and Dianne at the table beyond Kaye's benefited from the added light!

There's Dianne at the top with her vintage jewelry selections.  She shared a table with Janey (that's her in the center picture looking toward the camera while our friend Shirley browses the table).  The bottom photo shows Janey's great selection of Christmas pins.  Be sure to check out her huge collection of vintage jewelry on Etsy.  Her shop is called BroochOnMyBack59!

I hope to try my hand at some more craft shows, so I'll be sure to bug you all mercilessly about them when I do!

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I'll see you, tomorrow

...it's only a day away!

*Excuse all the "rick-rack" underlining!  I didn't take the time to figure out how to get rid of them in the original Word document before I saved it as an image.

Treasury Tuesday

Today I'm thankful that I can bring you two lovely treasuries.  The first will get you in the mood for Thanksgiving, compliments of beesters.  Many of the items shown have sold, but the composition and theme of this treasury is so eye-pleasing.  And they got me with the inclusion of the vintage Scrabble board.  Be sure to check out the super cute stuffed stuff in their Etsy shop at the link above.

The second treasury provides a nice contrast to the first....and it just happens to feature my Baby Gems necklace!  Thanks so much to Hagarae and be sure to visit her shop to see her amazing fiber art jewelry.  And don't be surprised if you see more of her beautifully curated treasuries featured here in the future.

As always, just click on the treasury image to be taken to its page on Etsy.

Now, just a little more business to attend to (I hope you're still reading!).  Remember that I told you quite a few posts back that I'd be participating in my first craft show?  Well, it's almost here!  So if you are anywhere near the Fort Worth-Dallas area this coming Saturday, November 20th, be sure to drop by Everman United Methodist Church at 530 Townley Drive* in Everman.  Their Spectacular Fall Bazaar will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and admission is $2, benefitting various church programs.  There will be a variety of vendors (me, me!) selling their wares...perfect for checking off all the recipients on your Christmas list or picking up that last-minute birthday gift for ME....and I'll be happy to point out everything I like, if you're not sure what to buy ME!   Hey, it's all about ME here, okay?  :)

*Yikes, I keep putting the wrong address for the church everywhere!  It's been corrected above.  You'd think I can't read or something!

A tree grows in Fort Worth

As I mentioned in my last post, I've been working on a project for my granddaughter's nursery.

I started by painting two 3'x3' canvases to match the wall color.  A very thin, brush-stroke-y coat of the very pale blue looked like sky, so I decided against a second coat.

Since I wanted to paint the sides of the canvases, cat food cans came in handy for elevating them off of the newspaper-covered dining table.

Then I started sketching in the tree.  I cut out four leaf shapes to trace around, so I could position them where I wanted without sketching and erasing constantly.

The bird did require quite a bit of sketching and erasing before I had it to my liking.  This is the third bird I sketched and the first I didn't erase.  You can still see some of the un-erased outlines from the first two.  The tree trunk also got a lot of adjusting before it was just the right width.

The painting begins.  Jennifer had the idea for the initials carved painted in the heart.

The bird required outlining so that the wing and other details would show up well when the painting was complete.

Two days of painting and it's done!  The colors were chosen to match those in the nursery bedding and other elements in the room.

And since it was Sunday evening and Jen promised chili for dinner, I headed over to hang it in Kaylee's room while the leaves were barely dry!  We actually used Velcro to attach the canvases to the wall.

I love the way the nursery is turning out.  Just a few more touches and it will be complete.  I can't wait for sweet little Kaylee to arrive so she can move in!

Save some daylight for me.

Tonight's the night...that we lose the light.  Ugh.  I want daylight savings time to stay forever.  I hate when it gets dark early.  Winter seems like the time when we should stay sprung forward, doesn't it?   Maybe that's why the time legislators keep shoving those dates later in the fall and earlier in the spring.  By the time I'm so old that I want to just go to bed, we'll have daylight extending until nine p.m. in January.

Much going on here, so all my best-laid plans for blogging keep getting pushed aside.  Today Jen and Mom and I are off to a bridal shower.  My nephew Sean is getting married in January, so we're pretty excited to finally officially welcome Marisol into the family.  Next Saturday is Jen's second baby shower, hosted by four of her friends, but held at her house.  Naturally she is anxious to have the nursery ready to show off, so I have been working to finish one very large element of the decor.  I'm taking pictures of the progress, so I can post the results here in a couple of days.  And two weeks from today, I'll be participating in the Spectacular Fall Bazaar at Everman United Methodist Church.  That means I've got to make a LOT more jewelry between now and then.

I hope you're enjoying my Treasury Tuesday posts.  I was excited to see that the last one brought 49 visitors to my blog, including 32 from Israel!  HPerl, the artist who created that treasury, lives in Israel and promoted the post on Facebook and on Etsy's Israeli members' forums.  And she was very nice to include me in another of her lovely treasuries, so here it is...

Many thanks to HPerl....and be sure to check back Tuesday for another of her treasuries.  Meanwhile, have a great weekend, and don't forget to fall back if you're in a locality that participates in this time-changing foolishness.

Orange marmalade

Lots of mentions from online friends about the beautiful sunsets the past few days, so I headed out to take a look this evening.  There are so many trees to the west of my house that I had to cross the street to get a good view.

Now, if you want to see some really beautiful photos, check out the link to Cat's Wanderings in my favorite blogs list on the right.  Ms. Cats lives on the shores of Lake Michigan, so she has lots of amazing photo ops.
